Breakfast Frittata

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but how many of you actually eat breakfast? What do you normally eat for breakfast during the week?

Thanks to my parents, I grew up eating breakfast every single morning before school. Now I have to eat breakfast before work, otherwise my brain doesn’t function — making for a rough day.

Since the slow cooker breakfast burritos were a success, and since we are minimizing the carbs in our diet, (whether they are whole grain or not), the time has come to try another experiment with eggs in the slow cooker.

Spicy Cinnamon Pork

Looking for inspiration a couple of months back, I stumbled across a great sounding recipe for spicy cinnamon pork. Thanks to Debbie’s recent post, I learned that I heart cooking clubs (IHCC) is featuring Mark Bittman recipes. Yes, you guessed it! That spicy cinnamon pork recipe that made my mouth water came from one of Mark Bittman’s cookbooks — How To Cook Everything . Of course, I adapted the original instructions to make this richly flavoured pork in my slow cooker. The IHCC theme this week is ‘pot luck’ — what dish do you bring to pot lucks?

Ultimate Slow Cooker Curry

If you like curries you’ll love this. This chicken curry is made with toasted, freshly ground spices and a colourful mixture of vegetables including cauliflower, carrots and celery. I went all out with this so trust me, it’s worth making.

Ode to Butternut Squash

I often bring leftovers of Curried Butternut Squash Soup to work for lunch, and my co-workers are always lured to the kitchen by the aroma as it is warming up. So when they requested I make some for our Christmas potluck dinner, I took it as a compliment and made a huge batch in my slow cooker.
